Mini Tummy Tuck
A mini tummy tuck (also called as mini tuck or partial abdominoplasty) is a less invasive cosmetic surgical procedure that uses a C-section-like incision for tightening loose skin on the lower abdomen, between the belly button and the pubis. This is a good option for those people who do not have a significantly protruding lower abdominal muscle wall and have a small amount of abdominal skin to be removed below the belly button. Sometimes this treatment is suggested or carried out post Vaser liposuction (treatment for fat reduction) to deal with loose skin. There can be various reasons for loose hanging skin around the lower abdomen – two of the most common reasons are after childbirth and after weight loss.
Mini tummy tuck surgery is performed under local anaesthetic with mild sedation but in some cases it is performed under general anaesthesia. Just before surgery, the surgeon will carefully mark the areas of the lower abdomen that will be cut. Then a short, horizontal incision will be made below the belly button. The length of the incision involved in a mini tuck will depend on the amount of skin to be removed, but incision is generally very short as compared to traditional tummy tuck incision and the navel is left intact.
After this, removal of excess fat and skin begins and the abdominal muscle underneath is tightened. Lastly, the surgeon will stretch the skin downward, getting rid of any excess tissue by cutting it and stitching the remaining skin into proper place. There may be temporary drainage tube in the incision site to drain off any fluid from the wound. These drains usually need to stay in place for two days.
If necessary, liposuction may also be performed to help sculpt the tummy into the desired shape. The surgery may lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours depending on how much tissue needs to be removed, and whether or not your abdominal muscles need to be corrected.
Mini tummy tuck restore a feminine, semi-hourglass or hourglass figure with a desired shape to the waist and hips for women and for men a tighter and more masculine waistline. The procedure is relatively safe with very little side effects or complications with a shorter recovery time. This procedure results in a single scar, which varies from a few inches in length to hipbone to hipbone, which should fade to a fine line after healing.
After surgery stomach will be swollen and bruised and this swelling and bruising will last a few weeks. Any hanging excess skin will be gone immediately after your surgery but the final result will be visible about after a year, when the scars and subcutaneous tissue are completely healed.
